Stars on Parade this Christmas
Broadway Glamour for the festive season!
‘Stars on Parade at Christmas’ the much awaited musical production will be on the boards again this festive season. Presented by the Foundation of Creative Arts, this musical production will no doubt be an unforgettable evening of rising stars in Broadway glamour!
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, renowned producer, and director Jith Peiris had this to say, “This is the 30th year in succession that I am organising this show, and every time, I have brought on stage, the best of Sri Lankan talent in western music, song and dance. Throughout this show you will witness the unprecedented ability of the participants in the sphere of performing arts”.
Part of the line-up for the evening’s entertainment would include three choral groups of well-known choirs –‘Soul Sounds’, a junior choir conducted by Soundarie David and ‘Menaka Singers’ choir conducted by Mr Francis D’Almeida. The performers on Piano and Violin are prize winners at the Royal School of Music, United Kingdom. The solo artistes of high repute performing for the show Amendi, Dayan, Laknarth, Joanne and Dilini, will sing the best of Broadway and also Christmas songs. Guest artiste Johaan Peiris will perform on Piano. Many songs from the much loved opera ‘Carmen’ will be sung, and the much loved classics such as ‘Ave Maria’, ‘O holy night’ and ‘Somewhere over the rainbow’ will also be featured.
As a tribute to the present nationwide campaign “Look after our children”, there will be a performance by little children singing a sad song from the musical ‘Oliver’.
While promoting the best of young talent, the proceeds of this show will go to providing books, bags and uniform material for 500 identified children, victims of land mines,who cannot afford these items.
