Rupika making steady progress as an actress...
New generation actress Rupika Swarnalatha who entered the field of acting while serving the health sector, has made quite an impact as a model and starring in several films and tele dramas.
Among her future film releases are ‘Maya’, ‘Gimhanaya’ and ‘Adaraneeya Kathawak’.
Hailing from Welikanda in Polonnaruwa, Rupika started acting and singing while studying at her Welikanda school.
She has so far acted in Pravegaya, Duwana Muwan and Asia’s longest running tele serial ‘Kopi Kade’ in which she plays the role of Menika. She also acted in Muthupalasa and Surawimana. Among her future tele drama releases are ‘Eliya Aran’, ‘Visal Danawwa’ and ‘Sulang Rella’.
“I have received quite a number of new tele drama offers. I hope to learn the art of acting further and someday become a talented actress instead of being a popular actress. I am also learning beauty culture and modelling because they go hand in hand with acting,” said Rupika expressing her gratitude to all those who had helped her in her brief journey.
“I can never forget the support I received from my school music teacher Gamini Wanninayake, Principal J. Rajakaruna, Welikanda PS Chairman Nimal Adhikari, Kadawatha Maduwa Sri Bodhiradhipathi Ven. Idampitiye Vajiralankara Thera, Donald Jayantha, my parents and sisters and brothers,” she said.
