Priyanka Chopra is the voice of an aircraft in the upcoming animated film Planes by the director of The Simpsons.
She may or may not try out playback singing, but Priyanka Chopra may well be the voice of a lovable aircraft if the director of The Simpsons has his way.
TOI has learnt that PeeCee has been signed by Disney to lend her voice to Klay Hall's animated film Plane, which will release later this year. In the film, the actress, who plays a character called Ishani, is paired with Dane Cook, who is the voice of Dusty Crophopper.
According to a source, the makers of the film were looking for a voice from India, who could do justice to the Asian character. "Klay's office got in touch with Siddharth Roy Kapoor, who suggested Priyanka's name."
Apparently, what helped PeeCee clinch the deal was her rapport with UTV that recently received a boost with Barfi! "PeeCee is supposed to dub for the original English version of the film.
Decision on the Hindi version is yet to be taken," added the source.
