A burst of talent and innovation, the exhibition is bound be equally good this year with a brand new set of artists working on various genres. Regardless of what your taste is in art, dropping in at Passion on Sunday will be a treat to your senses and will greatly encourage the budding artists as well as the organizers. Passion is committed to recognizing and rewarding talent, in whatever form.
Passion will take place at the Galleries of Sapumal foundation, Barnes Place, Colombo 7. Drop in anytime during the usual working hours.
The artists taking part this year will be comment on being part of the exhibition:
Hash & Umanga (Digital) - We will be displaying our skateboard collections at passion. CULTSHOCK collection has a Srilankan traditional art theme common to all the Skateboards.
Bhanuka Bodaragama (Collage) - I’m excited to be a part of this and I thank the organizers for all the hard work. Hope this will be a great experience to me as well since for the first time I’m getting ready for an exhibition with collages. The collection which will be displaying at Passion is named as “The journey”. It is all about the people whose lives are determined by the roads they have traveled, things they have gone through and the journey they are living.
Mayantha Perera (Water colours) - I really like taking part in exhibitions and to display my work. So I am really happy to be part of Passion 2013. Speaking of the collection I am hoping to display the work will be simple and easy to understand by laymen with the theme of poverty in society running through them.
Denver Pereira (Digital) – Honestly, this is my first exhibition ever, so the feeling is nervous excitement. I wish to present a mix of styles, Cartoon, caricature and maybe a culmination of both.
Georgiana Chitac (Limited edition prints) - I like the idea that my work travelled so far from where I am and I like the name of the exhibition - “passion”, it underlines very well what art should be about. In December I will showcase a selection of seven giclee prints of fine art illustrations created between 2009 and 2012. 2013 was an year dedicated entirely to children’s books.
Shantan Kumarasamy (Fine Art Photographs) - I am glad to be part of the Passion team firstly, in terms of having an opportunity to showcase each of our work to an audience that appreciates visual arts. Events such as these are very important in raising the cultural standards and awareness, particularly amongst the youth. Being born and brought up in Sri Lanka, it is the first time I am dispaying my work in the island, and Passion had enabled me that opportunity.
I am displaying five photographs at the exhibition this December. One of them made in Kandy, another in Galle and three more in Kytes-Jaffna. Except for the image I made in Kandy, others depict daily life.
Pathmal Yahampath who is a metal sculptor and Chathuranga Gamage will be other artists displaying their work at Passion.
