Lady Gaga will perform at the MTV Video Music Awards next month.

The 'Judas' hitmaker will make one of her first appearances since having hip surgery in February and debut her new single at the annual awards bash on August 25, which will air live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Other performers will be announced at a later date but Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead the nominations, as they are both up for six awards.

Bruno Mars is up for four awards, while Thirty Seconds to Mars, Robin Thicke, Miley Cyrus and Pink are up for three each.

Lady Gaga, 27, who will release her new album 'ARTPOP' on November 11, sang the national anthem at New York's Gay Pride last month.

The star has been avoiding the public eye since cancelling her 'Born This Way Ball' world tour to undergo surgery for a labral tear on her right hip earlier this year, which left her temporarily wheelchair-bound.

The blonde singer recently revealed that her new album will visit the pain of her past and dramatically described the moment she handed the first single over to her record label.

In a post on her new website, LittleMonsters.com, she wrote: "ARTPOP as they pry the single from my bleeding fingers. its a scary thing to revisit those things underneath, the pain in your past. but all I found was raw passion. I thought I was destroyed inside. im just ready to fight. start the music. (Sic)"
