Ke$ha is the "spirit of Keith Richards" transported into pop music.

The 'Die Young' singer wants to transport the maverick spirit and attitude of The Rolling Stones' guitarist to a new generation, but does so through pop music, because she wants to reach as many people as possible.

She said: "That's what I'm connecting with, the fighter, the rebel. Keith Richards is a warrior god. Apart from being a godlike artist, he's revered for his attitude to the world. I invented Cock Pop for a new generation to feel the same way.

"There's no point rebelling and making a stand in some murmuring punk band with just six people watching. Cock pop is all about making it mainstream and worldwide."

Ke$ha, 25, may be known for her partying ways, but having written songs for Miley Cyrus and sang backing vocals for Britney Spears, she feels she's earned her stripes as an artist too.

She added to Q magazine: "I am a songwriter. I have earned my right to be called that. And my music has changed from the first album. I was crazier on [debut] 'Animal' than I am on 'Warrior'."
