The Methodist College Choir, is yet again preparing to astonish audiences, as they perform Fuoco Con Grazia (Fire with Grace) on the 10th and 11th of June, at the Lionel Wendt.

This choir is reputed for their choral standards even on an international platform, having won a gold and a silver diploma at the First Vietnam International Choir Competition held in Hoi An, Vietnam in 2011 and also a platinum award at the Xinghai Prize International Choir Competition in Guangzhou China. Currently ranked 18th in the World Youth Choirs Chart they have been striving hard to maintain and further enhance their standards.

Choir Director Sanjeev Jayaratnam says, “Training them has been quite nice indeed. It is a very young crowd, inclusive of even 13 year olds. We lost a lot of seniors within the last year and we’ve really had to build up the choir, so it took a lot of hard work.”

He continued to say that the choir would be presenting “a mixed bag of songs” leaning predominantly towards pop including a variety of medleys, Look at the World by John Rutter and I Don’t Know How to Love Him.

The choir will be accompanied by Dharshi Edwards (piano), Neranjan de Silva (organ) and Christopher Prins on drums. There will also be a guest performance by Metho Cantati directed by Anagi Perera and Manique Abeyratne.

Tickets priced at Rs. 1000,750 and 500 (reserved) and Rs. 300 balcony (unreserved) are available at the school office.

For a night of singing that would touch your heart and stir your soul, Fuoco Con Grazia it is!
