The Electric Peacock Festival blew everyone away this year; from the incredible production to the awesome music sets from their international DJs, the team behind the event really made the ‘festival spirit’ come alive once again.
Walking into the event, it was wonderful to see the many festivalgoers already dressed up and ready to get into the vibe of the evening. There were a number of people who had adorned themselves in peacock face paint and headdresses, worn animal print and even neon. The AOD costume tent was a centre point for the event, having queues of people lining up to get their costumes, bespoke masks, feather shoulder pads and their neon face paint ready for their night.
The LG smartphone neon photobooth was another hit of the festival with their bespoke tent full of petting zoo fun including four five-foot high foam fur birds in red, yellow and orange for festival goers to hug and pet. There were also a number of foil helium balloon animals that festival attendees helped themselves too. The photobooth was the first activation at the event and definitely one that was not to be missed.
There was also a line of ladies queuing up for the Veet Leg Art tent where a number of smooth legged women were having their legs bedazzled with silver and gold flash tattoos. It seemed that everyone wanted in on the action, including a few male festival goers!
The Silent Disco was definitely a hot favourite at the festival; it was amusing to watch 200 people dance and move in absolute silence. This was a major hit once the mainstage shutdown and people partied on till the wee hours of the morning. Chris and Wade from Silent Social could not stop dropping the hits!
But the highlight of the evening was definitely the music and the main headline act, three time Grammy Award winning Mark Ronson! He played an electric set, with one huge hit after the other ensuring that everyone who was watching his set was dancing throughout. One of the best moments of his performance was when he dropped his huge number #1 hit ‘Uptown Funk’; the festival team had timed this song perfectly with Mark and at that moment released ten massive neon coloured beach balls into the crowd. It seemed a like a moment of pure joy and frantic madness as the crowd went insane trying to get involved in passing the gigantic beach balls around and back towards Mark! This was a lovely touch and really encapsulated the mood of the evening.
After speaking to many festival attendees, it seemed to be clear that DJ Yoda was one the best and unexpected sets of the night. Everyone seemed comment that he managed to bring in the party atmosphere, playing one huge hit after the other and bringing his unique turntablist skills to the festival.
Frank Meehan and the Jitterbug were also a popular set getting the festival goers dancing in anticipation for both Yoda and Mark. And the bevy of local talent that included Rev, Type B, Asvajit, Larry T Hill and MUKU made it a memorable festival.
