Having  amazed audiences who have been lucky enough to see them since their last concert five years ago, Voice.Print is back and this time they sound more definitive than ever.

When questioned as to why they waited so long, Michael Sathasivam said, “We have been experimenting and doing various corporate concerts as well as guest spots at various shows and we also broke into the Sinhalese music market by launching Sri Lanka’s first ever original Accapella track “Gayu gee”.'

The band’s upcoming production title “Sounds Like Voice. Print” will be held on 14 August at the Hilton Colombo.

The boys have broken down the boundaries of being a group of individuals hailing from St. Benedict’s College, Kotahena and have introduced members who have excelled in music from different schools as well - this comes in the form of Ryan de Mel and Nicole Liyanage who hail from S. Thomas’ College and St. Joseph’s College respectively. The two have fit in perfectly with the requirements needed by Voice.Print which has helped the boys raise their standards higher.

When asked if the transition to the Sinhala music industry was difficult Michael said, “The Sinhala music industry has its own nuances. Apparently, when you use an accent, people do not like you. We had to blend into the real Sinhala music but we did our own thing anyway. People told us when we were doing our original music that this is not a mass sound market and that we won’t go anywhere with it.

"We still went in there anyway because we wanted consciously to stick to our plan and that paid off very well because people started recognising Voice.Print. We wanted to be different with our own sound. We successfully did that. We actually went into large beach shows where Sinhala bands would perform and we stood there and did our own performance. It went really well. That is what we established and that is a big move for us and it was the first time in the music industry of Sri Lanka where we took a western genre and made it to the mass market.”

Sounds like Voice.Print will feature mash ups from the likes of Abba, rock bands and also Electronic Dance Music mash ups that will all carry that distinctive flavour and intricate harmonies that one is sure to find only with Voice.Print.
