Comedy Sundays : “laugh till you drop, and don’t spill your coffee”
Could you have imagined that there could have been a better combination than Sunday, coffee and a good book? Guess what, there is a better combination and it is Sunday, coffee and comedy. Tranquil Events with its partners Coffee Bean and PR Wire brings you Comedy Sundays at The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Liberty Plaza Colombo.
Tranquil Events being the pioneers in Sri Lanka in not only hosting comedy events but also managing creative talents have once again come up with an amazing concept called Comedy Sundays. It has been happening from October and the second show just finished on November 1. Tranquil Events along with its partners believe that Sri Lanka needs an alternative form of entertainment. Sri Lankan people deserve to have the options of going out and enjoying apart from just eating and drinking. Furthermore we want to create a platform for creative talents and push them towards an international stage.
The founder of Tranquil Events Fahmy Rahman believes that this is in fact a good cause. He further noted, “I truly believe that Sri Lankan people need to be happy, we Sri Lankans have suffered enough with the past. My drive for this concept is to give the community of Sri Lanka a new form of entertainment, we are in fact progressing and I don’t think having casinos is the only form of entertainment, we should do more than that.”

The events that happened pulled in a full house and the crowd was in tears laughing. Tranquil Events is currently managing three amazing talents Shuhaib Ali, Yasir Haris and Arfath Saleem and have even spotted more new acts. These talents are capable of even performing on an international stage. Fahmy further added, "They are better than half the comedians in the world. Our comedians are doing the toughest job in the world. They have to prepare fresh content for every event. This puts a lot of pressure on them but they are capable and they have aced it all the time. If it’s hard to believe then you should come for our next show, you will be amazed."
Comedy Sundays is happening every first Sunday of the month at The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf Liberty Plaza Colombo from 5pm to 7pm. Tickets are priced at Rs. 750 and with it you will get a free beverage and a further 25% discount on your total bill.
