As the Supreme Court ordered a five-year jail sentence for Sanjay Dutt, Twitter went abuzz with the news. While a lot of tweeple hailed the decision, the Bollywood fraternity was clearly saddened.

Bollywood's A-listers Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra and Arjun Rampal were really upset by by the news and tweeted their support to Dutt and his family.

Priyanka Chopra wrote, "My heart goes out to Sanju sir and his family..the nicest gentlest person..I pray for some respite for him through our judiciary.. (sic)".

A disturbed Hrithik Roshan posted on his Twitter wall, "I cannot comprehend. I know d law is d LAW. But I can bet my Life 2 say that Sanju sir doesn't deserve this! D most loved man!i stand for Sanjay dutt. (sic)" Both these actors starred with Dutt in the film Agneepath.

Yesteryear actress and MP Jaya Prada came to Dutt's defence, even calling him an 'innocent person'. She said, "It is very unfortunate. Knowingly or unknowingly, it has been written in his (Dutt's) fate that he has to struggle like this. Particularly for Sanjay Dutt, if you see the background of his family and all. His father Sunil Dutt served a lot for the country, and even in politics he had a very good name. And knowing his nature and character as a great father, and his son, he also innocently may be has done something."

Filmmaker Pritish Nandy wrote about the 'dichotomy' of the situation. He tweeted, "The strange dichotomies of life. A fine Supreme Court judgement on the Bombay blasts. But yes, Sanjay Dutt is my friend. I am sad for him. I will be very sad to see Sanjay Dutt go back to jail... where I used to meet him years ago. A second term will destroy the man. Sad for Sanjay Dutt. He is paying for what was an act of folly. He is no traitor. He made a mistake. He is paying for it. Hugely."

Singer and composer Vishal Dadlani seemed deeply disturbed by the decision as he wrote, "I am not contesting/denying the law, but it breaks my heart that @duttsanjay's to face this. He has done so much, so selflessly for so many! (sic)"

Director Mahesh Bhatt and photographer Daboo Ratnani too, expressed their grief. "Bhatt wrote, "Man lives in hope and dies in hope! I am hopeful that the apex courts verdict will finally bring enduring peace in Sanjay Dutt's life." Ratnani tweeted, "Shattered to Hear about @duttsanjay ...Love Him...He is Like My Elder Brother & has a Pure Heart of Gold. God give Him Strength (sic)"

Kamaal R Khan and Kunal Kohli however, didn't seem as sympathetic. Kohli wrote on his wall, "The '93 blast case should NOT be made about Sanjay Dutt. The Real planners are sitting safely in Pakistan like Osama Bin Laden was." KRK quipped about the situation, writing, "Technically tday is last day of acting career of Sanjay Dutt. He will be around 60yrs when he will be released so then he will be politician (sic)."

Interestingly, Dutt had last interacted with his Twitter followers yesterday, when he posted about the upcoming shoot of his next film.
He wrote, "It's late in the night. Have an early morning shoot for policegiri. Good night and big Jaadu ki jhappi to all my lovely fans. (sic)" Bet he wasn't talking about this kind of 'policegiri'!
