Youth-initiated, youth-organised and youth-conducted, ‘Attire’ serves as a fundraiser for the Kidney Transplant Unit of Anuradhapura, organised by Kingswood College, Kandy and Gateway College
‘Attire- A Walk for a Cause’, is a fashion designing and graphics designing competition aimed at those below 25 years of age. Kingswood English Literary Association along with the Community Service Club of Gateway College Kandy are the proud organisers of this worthwhile project, while AOD (Academy Of Design) is the main sponsor.
The first phase of this useful project came to conclusion with bells of success on 11 October 2015. This phase was a workshop dedicated to the number of young, enthusiastic wannabe designers, to inform them about competition rules, procedure and how to put the procedure into action. There were 2 presentations conducted by lecturers at AOD to educate our excited bunch of participants.
The peak of excitement would have to be when the fashion designing participants were divided into 4 groups and were allocated the task of designing dresses, using newspaper and cut-piece cloth, of the top most brands that took part in the New York Fashion Week this year. The truly mesmerising designs of the participants produced at the end are surely evidence to the fact that Attire will produce amazing masterpieces this year.
Their equally enthusiastic graphic design participants too would have had a worthwhile and fun-filled experience, if the lit-up and broad-smiled faces were of any indication.
The Attire-A Walk for a cause competition which is the main event will be held on 14 November at Kandy City Centre (KCC).
The participants who took part in the Attire workshop will present their outfits and the winners will be selected and awarded with valuable certificates on the same day.
