An Imperfection, a feature film made by a Sri Lankan director named Rasanga Weerasinghe who is currently based in Canada, will be screened at Goethe Institut Col-7 on September 2nd at 6pm. Veteran documentary filmmaker Anomaa Rajakaruna will be hosting and moderating this event, along with the film editor Amila Perera and the producer Eranga Hemajith being on the panel discussion.
This story revolves around three lovers and the complexities of their lives. Kamara, already in a relationship with Becky, wants to explore more things in life. She goes on a date with Vincent, a conservative hot-tempered single man, who was forced to go on the date by his nerdy friend, Skinner. They instantly connect and life seems too good to be true for the couple. Kamara’s hidden past is revealed when gang members confront the couple and a fight ensues. As Becky is tormented by the changes within her partner, Vincent and Kamara endure a traumatic event that will change their lives forever.
An Imperfection film is Rasanga Weerasinghe’s first feature film. Him and his friends made “Angam: The Art of War” documentary film in 2011 and few other short films before migrating to Canada. This film was made with minimum resources in guerilla filmmaking style. Film shooting took place in British Columbia, Canada and all the post production and music production was done in Sri Lanka. Jonathan George and Sean Sansoni of Street Light Mist composed original music and the official sound track for this movie. The screening and the panel discussion at Goethe Institut is free for the public.
