What do the youth want most?
The youth is a critical stage in your life where you start to take decisions for your future. Some would have higher expectations about a good life but to achieve that one has to work hard. The youth may want many things in their life including good friends, a career, higher education and many more. Yet we thought we would ask the youth out there as to what they really want in life and these were the responses.
Praboda
I think freedom and a good job is what I need most.
Chathura
Education is a must because without that you cannot move forward.
Pradeep
Freedom is what I prefer most because we know how much we suffered during the past 30 years. Without freedom you cannot do anything.
Chamara
A good job decides your future therefore I consider it as very important.
Isuru
A good job and a family life is what I need most.
What the youth around the world want the most...
As part of the International Youth Foundation’s partnership with the Center for Strategic and International Studies, an analysis was conducted taking 11 polls and 25 youth declarations in to consideration in order to understand what the youth value most and prioritize.
The consensus concluded that the youth prioritize four things as mentioned below:
1. The chance to start their own business - Certainly youth want jobs, but they do not see those jobs coming anytime soon.
2. An education that prepares them for the real world - Millions of young people complete a primary education and still cannot read or write in their native language.
3. The end of corruption and bad governance - Young people are feeling the corrosive effects of corruption and government apathy in every area of their lives, from education and road safety to health and environmental protection.
4. A safe and secure life - Too often young people are viewed as the source of national and regional insecurity, and yet they are among the most affected by it and the best suited to address it.
