Finding the perfect spot for your special day is beyond just scenic views and great architecture, there are a few things you must consider for your venue to be truly perfect.
Your first task is to know where you want to have your wedding. What would be your ideal location? A hall, on the beach, in a garden? Look into your options, visit as many wedding locations as you can to find the place that you feel is right. If you have a special location that means something to you and your partner, try and find out if you could possibly have your wedding there! Be sure to match your wedding style to your location before you select the venue so that you can save on decorations and décor.
Figure out the logistics. How many are you planning to invite? Your space needs to be appropriate to the number of guests you invite. Keep in mind that whilst the venue might look spacious while empty, once it is filled with tables and decorations, the space for your guests to move about might be limited. When you are looking for your venue, consider where everything could be, such as the place for the DJ and space for your guest to eat, dance, drink or talk. Make sure to ask an estimate on how many the venue could accommodate.
Find out whether if your venue is full service or not. Full service would mean that the venue would provide everything, from tables to linens to all your catering needs whereas a non-full service venue would only offer you the space. Some venues might even have vendors they want you to work with. Depending on your budget, this is something to consider about.
Finally, consider the little things. When you find your venue, don’t forget to ask the little questions. Make a list of every little doubt and ask away. What is the cancellation policy? When can I set up? What services do you provide? What restrictions do you have? If you are planning an outside wedding, what would their weather contingency plan be? Be it about the outlets, the parking, the acoustics or the security be sure to know everything about your location.
