Today on Buzz with Danu, #SupportingTalent, I speak to some talented people with a vision to uplift Sri Lankan travel. Named TRA, they are making BIG waves. “Tra is the true and wholesome experience of youth travelling” I was told.
They want to show you the best sights and the amazing places, and give you recommendations on the best of Tra friendly destinations.
They hope to bring you the unseen wonders, and simply the best of everything.
So pack your bags. Grab your friends. Let’s TRA! Find them on Facebook!
What was the thinking behind TRA?
To develop a new platform for youth travellers around the world. To talk about trasome places and things to do around the world.
What does TRA stand for?
Travel is travel that we know. Tra is all about travel with excitement.
What is TRASOME?
The new word we are going to promote through TRA. Trasome = The Travel Awesome (the world to use when we do awesome travel with filled with fun, adventure and excitement).
How would Sri Lanka benefit from TRA?
Initially we are promoting only Sri Lanka’s happening places for youth tourists around the world. In a more interactive way with pictures, videos and articles. And we will make sure to promote Sri Lanka as a youth friendly destination which is with fun filled activities, places and people. And get close to their hearts digitally. And we will be promoting all the ‘trasome’ places around the country and that will help to develop the tourism industry. (Surfing , hiking , village tours, city tours, local experience, night life, beach life, wild safari, camping etc.)
What do you hope to highlight through this?
The true art of travelling.
What are you currently working on?
Building the brand TRA as an online magazine, which will speak about some exciting locations.
5 places a Sri Lankan should visit according to you?
Cannot stop at 5. There are many ‘trasome’ places in Sri Lanka. Colombo , Arugam Bay, Ella , Negombo, Kalpitiya, Mirissa, Weligama, Unawatuna, Sigiriya, Trinco, Pasikudah, Nuwara Eliya, the list goes on and on. And more than that there are many places that we’ve never heard of. If it's top 5, it's dfficult to say because each place has a different flavour and different uniqueness. You are simply living in a paradise!
What’s the next step for TRA?
The TRASOME App.

What is working against our tourism for Sri Lanka, according to you?
Everyone in the tourism industry is doing a great job to promote Sri Lanka. But we feel there needs to be concentration on how to drive the brand Sri Lanka digitally in a different way.
