Maathra is an annual cultural dancing festival showcasing the talents of the children studying at all the branches of the Lyceum Group of Schools. Maathra 9 is based on several different dancing acts with folk styles and cultural effects. With Sri Lankan dancing, there are three main styles, which are Kandyan, lower country and Sabaragamuwa, all three of which have been incorporated into the Maathra 9 cultural performances. 

Kandyan dancing was introduced to the Lyceum Group of Schools by its founder Mohan Lal Grero, with the hope of keeping cultural dancing alive amongst young children. 

Maathra 9, the ninth consecutive event of this nature to be organized by the Lyceum Group of Schools, will be held on October 8, 2016 at the BMICH at 6pm.
