views 1191Knight of Illusions, a brand created way back in 2001 to promote magic and illusions has made a new twist by organizing “Knight of Illusions Returns” a show that has never been shown in Sri Lanka with 3 World Champion Magicians. On February 20, Musaeus College Auditorium will create a new benchmark in the Sri Lankan magic industry by featuring two time world champion magician Shawn Farquhar who is also a YouTube sensation with multiple videos with over 1 million views. He has performed with some of the top brands in the world, Fooled Penn & Teller and has been featured on The Ellen Show.
Thommy Ten and Amélie van Tass, are the current World Champions of Mentalism (mindreading) which they were awarded after a long gap of 30 years. They are currently a part of 2 World Tours - “The Illusionists - 2.0 & The Illusionists 1903”. Not only have they performed in the prestigious Magic Castle in Hollywood but has also been invited to meet the world famous David Copperfield in Las Vegas. They were named the Magicians of the Year- 2015 in Germany which is a prestigious title held by the best magicians in the World.
Along with the World Champions the founder of Knight of Illusions Yasas Gunaratne will also be performing. Whilst magic is his part-time hobby he is a Guinness Record Participant, the Territorial Vice President for the International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM) and has been featured in international magic magazines such as the Linking Ring and Vanish.
“I always wanted to do things different, and magic has been a passion for me. My dream was to change the poor perception of magic in Sri Lanka and to take Sri Lankan magic to an international arena.” Yasas has worked hard to change the game of a dying art. He has always been a challenger and looks forward to raise funds for the constructing cancer hospital in Kandy through this project.
Trevin “Hannibal” is also, a young magician with great potential, and he is currently the President of IBM - Sri Lanka chapter and will be performing with his commonly known serious comedy style. Together these acts are supposed to create a night of spectacular illusion.
Also, “The Knight of Illusions Challenge Trophy” will be held on February 19 with the World Champion Magicians as the judges to select Sri Lanka’s best Magician for the FISM Asia Championship which will be the stepping stone for The World Championship in 2018.
This project will be one of its kind in the entertainment industry and will support in promoting an entertainment tourism, giving the Sri Lankan spectators a flavour of international magic and finally providing the ability to be part of the Social Responsibility Project of the New Cancer Hospital in Kandy.
