Here are some excerpts off the interview.
For someone in their early 40s, how do you keep yourself vibrant and young?
I am a very optimistic, strong willed, cheerful and a warm hearted person. I believe your body emulates what’s within you, therefore that's what you see in me. In addition I work out regularly, eat healthy and groom myself daily. Also both mental and physical fitness is very important to look young and vibrant.
What are your tips for our readers?
Cardio workout at least twice a week. Eat less starch and more greens and fruits. Very light dinner preferably fruits and NO chocolates. Sweets are a definite weight gainer so it's very important that you reduce your sweets intake. Be consistent in your workout and diet plan. Don't give up. No pain - No gain.
Do you ever feel bored working the banking sector?
At times it can be a bit monotonous. But somehow every day I come across a new customer to serve, a new problem to solve, a new situation to overcome and opportunities to learn new things. I have a very young, dedicated and spirited team working with me, making the time spent at work more productive and at the same time fun too. So I am never bored.
What’s your secret to work life balance, especially with your two kids?
I believe that once I am at home my role of a professional banker has to completely change to the role of a home maker and a mother. I don't bring work home and I make it a point to spend quality family time every day. It can be either dinner time, TV time or prayer time or all three. It’s important that you realise why these roles should not be mixed up.
Do you have a cheat day in your diet?
Of course I do. Don't we all? Kids’ days-out are definite cheat days for me. And I can never say no to Indian food, from the appetizers to the desserts because of my Indian background. However I make it a point to increase my workout routine to shed the extra calories.
