Kind, happy and hospitable are three words that best describe Shifani Ismail. Currently living in London where she works in the retail industry, Shifani is also a dab hand at turning out some amazing cuisine. Travelling around and sampling different cuisine has given Shifani the impetus to try out new dishes much to the delight of her friends!

I love to experience other cultures, food, people and languages.

Favourite travel destination?

Spain - absolutely perfect weather, beautiful landscapes, history and architecture, nightlife and entertainment.

What do you need for a perfect holiday?

My perfect holiday is not about being like a tourist. I prefer to have a local experience. So I would like information on where the locals dine and the places they frequent to get an authentic experience.

Not a great souvenir buyer.

Any travel advice?

Read up about your destination before you travel. Especially find out about local behaviour and customs so that you don't offend anyone. Like in Morocco you need to know how to handle locals who go out of the way to help out and the vendors. It's an experience. You have got to be smart!
