Why do you love travel?
I have made the most amazing friends when I have travelled. I love travelling around in Sri Lanka. There is so much to see and explore in our own country. Travelling for me is all about getting out of my comfort zone and challenging myself to do new things.
Your favourite travel destination and why?
I haven’t travelled to all my favourite destinations as yet; however, one of my favourite places that I have lived in would be Singapore. It also has a very large platform for art and architecture, where you would be exposed to different artists and designers and as a designer I have gained a lot of inspiration and exposure for my work.
What do you need for a perfect holiday?
Just four things. A good travel buddy, super local food, a camera and no set agenda.
In which country have you felt most at home?
Sri Lanka!
Most unusual souvenir you have brought home?
Century eggs (preserved duck egg).
Worst holiday or travel experience?
I was backpacking with one of my friends in Malaysia by train, when the train broke down in the middle of nowhere. for hours. We had to hop on a bus ride to the city and the hotel we booked online was not the one it should have been. Instead it was a small hostel down a shady lane.
Best piece of travel advice?
Step out of your comfort zone and try new things and make friends with the locals.
Your top five travel destinations?
These are on my bucket list:
1. The ancient city of Bagan, Myanmar,
2. Li River and Tianzi Mountains (where Avatar was filmed), China
3. Meteora - one of the largest monasteries, Greece
4. Salt lakes Salar De Uyumi and Laguna Verde, Bolivia
5. Machu Picchu, Peru
6. Volunteer with the Big Cats Programme in Johannesburg, South Africa
What has travel taught you?
It has taught me to value the small things in life and taught me to be more creative in the line of work I do, to get inspired.
Which country did you taste the best ever cuisine?
Singapore.
Next travel destination?
Australia.
