Nadun Baduge is one of Sri Lanka’s talented emerging photographers. A regular at many soirées around the capital he is never far away from the action with his camera in hand. Today Nadun shares his travel experiences.

Why do you love travel?

To meet new people and explore new cultures while trying out various cuisine and gaining a whole new experience.

Your favourite travel destination and why?

Australia, there are lots of activities to keep a tourist busy and also to catch up with good friends who are there.

What do you need for a perfect holiday?

A clear mind and lots of good people around me.

In which country have you felt most at home?

Australia. I felt so much at home while I was there, from the climate to people.

Worst holiday or travel experience?

I nearly missed a flight because I was looking at the screen for flight details, instead of going to the counter to check-in. I just managed to check in, in the nick of time and boarded the flight with a minute to spare.

Best piece of travel advice?

Always plan the itinerary and take enough cash with you. Learn about the destination before you leave and plan an itinerary, that way you will not miss out on anything that you want to see. Make sure you have enough cash with you and if you are going to shop be sensible about luggage restrictions and weight allowances.

Your top five travel destinations?

Australia, Belgium, Italy, Singapore and Thailand.

What has travel taught you?

To be independent, to make friends and  to be nice to everyone. Travelling exposes you to different ideas and you will be more creative.

Which country did you taste the best ever cuisine?

Italy. My tummy just loved Italian cuisine.

Next travel destination?

Greece or Netherlands.
