Been There Done That : Chamari and Rajeev
If you think planning a luxury wedding is too hard and too expensive, hear it from Chamari and Rajeev Pandithage, recently married full-time workers in Colombo - who has already tackled their own luxury wedding.
How did you meet?
Chamari and Rajeev : Proving that love indeed does work in mysterious ways, we fell in ‘love’ without even being on the same continent!
What kind of a wedding did you have?
Chamari and Rajeev : We had a sit down lunch reception in a very intimate setting with no more than 250 guests. Chamari was dressed in a rose, gold and silver saree set off against an intricately stitched jacket with the same colours. She carried a posy of roses, while the groom looked dashing in midnight blue. The bridesmaids wore simple blush pink Kandyan sarees. The subtleness of the pink was also captured beautifully in the bouquets and the trailing flora and fauna of the decor. From the wedding stationery to the cute centrepieces and the chandeliers placed here and there, all the attention to detail added to the magical beauty of the event.
Why did you decide to do a luxury wedding?
Chamari and Rajeev : We both wanted a magical experience on the most important day of our lives together. Also we wanted to celebrate this most special day with our families and loved ones and we both wanted to treat them to a lovely reception.
What was the most challenging part about planning a luxury wedding?
Chamari and Rajeev : The attention to detail and precise timing of each and every item on the schedule usually takes a lot of your time during planning, but luckily for us we had Prasadhi from Wedding Planner.lk to handle all these challenges that came our way.
Did you work within a budget?
Chamari and Rajeev : Yes, we had a budget.
What was the best part about your wedding?
Chamari and Rajeev : Being each other’s legally! Secondly, it was probably the food and the décor.
As a couple who has the experience - what’s the one thing you would say to anyone planning a luxury wedding?
Chamari and Rajeev : Get a wedding planner! Then, be organized. Try and enjoy it, as it is your one special day and planning it should be equally special.
