Celebrating A Legend : Mary Anne David

Join the students of Mary Anne David, a legend in Sri Lanka’s musical history, on February 5 and 6, to celebrate Mary Anne David’s 47 years of unparalleled mentoring as one of the island’s best trainers in vocal technique. She and her husband founded the Mary Anne School of Vocal Music, which has produced many successful vocalists, and the performing group the “Merry-An Singers” who have performed on both international and local stages.

The concert will take place at the Lionel Wendt at 7.30 pm with tickets being sold at the venue. It will feature both soloists and choirs, all of whom are either past or present students and  who will perform a variety of genres of music, from jazz and blues to contemporary popular music and inspiring gospel among others with each of the pieces being performed having been chosen by Mary Anne herself.

The multitude of genres which will be showcased is a reflection of the depth of talent and knowledge that Mary Anne David has been able to offer with her ability to coach vocalists who specialize in varied kinds of music including opera, lieder, Broadway, reggae and even oriental. Be sure to attend the event where there will be surely something for everyone!
