Tell us a little bit about what you do.
Deepika Gunasekera Salons are known for her bridal dressings and also for the salon services we offer. Apart from that, as her daughter I manage the Academy where we teach and guide anyone to be a talented hairdresser.
What would you say is the toughest part of your job?
I love what I do and making someone look their best and being able to meet their expectations is the most important thing for me. So meeting the clients and my expectation of the final look is something I take great attention in accomplishing.
What’s the biggest last minute crisis you’ve had in your career?
There was this one time a bride forgot the under slips of the bridesmaids and we had to think creatively on how to drape the saree in such a situation!
How do you deal under pressure during a crisis?
My salon is fully equipped to deliver many services under one roof. We not only dress the bride but also are able to take care of any emergencies such as flowers for the bride, dressmaking and have a large collection of jewellery and so on, so I am able to attend to any emergency fast and efficiently.
What are the last minute crises that a couple should be aware of and how do they tackle it or prevent it?
Mostly it is in the area of who’s responsible for what, so best is to have a friend or family member given a detailed agenda of the big day, so that the couple can be free of any stress on that date and enjoy.
