I was really happy and it was a chance that I couldn’t bear it up

How is it working in a big production like this with your newly made friends who are also your on-stage siblings?
It’s really fun and it’s really exciting. It’s tough as well but yeah we have fun a lot anyway!    

What is your favourite character from 'The Sound of Music' and why?
Maria. She is really fun and she is a really happy and sweet character. I love her.

Tashiyana Devarajan

How did it feel when you first heard that you got chosen?
It was amazing. Like I came to this thinking that I won’t get it, like I won’t get into the final eight even. And being in the show is amazing because it’s Broadway and its one of the biggest productions.

How is it working in a big production like this with your newly made friends who are also your on-stage siblings?
I think it’s a good experience to meet new people and different types of people. Working with them is challenging but taking the challenge is very good actually.

What is your favourite character from 'The Sound of Music' and why?

My favourite character is Brigitta because I think she is a very bossy character and one of the main roles as well. She is also very sneaky. 

Leeth Meth Singhage

How did it feel when you first heard that you got chosen?
I felt sad since some of my friends didn’t get chosen so I was kind of disappointed for them. 

How is it working in a big production like this with your newly made friends who are also your on-stage siblings?
It’s good since there some people I know and its fun to work with new people too.

What is your favourite character from 'The Sound of Music' and why?
I like Gretl because she is so cute and tiny.  

Niven Nanaykara

How did it feel when you first heard that you got chosen?
I was very happy and excited. But then some of my friends didn’t get in so I was a little sad about that. Even so, I am super excited to work with the rest of the cast.

How is it working in a big production like this with your newly made friends who are also your on-stage siblings?
So it’s actually really nice to act with different people. I didn’t know half the ‘Von Trapp’ family before coming for the auditions, but now I have new friends and it’s really nice to act with them and work with them.

What is your favourite character from 'The Sound of Music' and why?
So my favourite character is Maria. She seems so nice and kind. I’m waiting for Carmen to come back and act as her. 

Naadya Tranchell

I felt very happy and excited!

It seems very nice since I like all the friends I have made.

I like Leizl the most because she is the prettiest!

How did it feel when you first heard that you got chosen?
I was very excited to be on this play. I was very shocked when I got chosen.

How is it working in a big production like this with your newly made friends who are also your on-stage siblings?
It’s very nice and this is the first time ever that I have being in a drama and I really like the people because they are all very kind.

What is your favourite character from 'The Sound of Music' and why?
I like Maria because she has a beautiful voice. I also like Gretl and Marta because they are very cute.  

Lohan Tharinda Perera

How did it feel when you first heard that you got chosen?
I was really happy. I was like practically jumping up and down with excitement and happiness.  

How is it working in a big production like this with your newly made friends who are also your on-stage siblings?
It’s fun! It’s really fun, like there are times when it’s really tough and times when it’s fun. 

What is your favourite character from 'The Sound of Music' and why?
My favourite character from The Sound of Music is Kurt because he is the good guy in everything like whenever someone does something bad he points it out.  

Venuka Rison Joseph

How did it feel when you first heard that you got chosen?
I was actually over the moon. I couldn’t speak and I was jumping up and down and singing, it was amazing.  

How is it working in a big production like this with your newly made friends who are also your on-stage siblings?
Its fun, we get to meet new people and have new friends. It’s tough and it’s fun, its everything!  

What is your favourite character from 'The Sound of Music' and why?
My favourite characters would be Marta, Friedrich and Louisa because they are all friendly people, plays pranks and kind of scary as well.  

Amaya Dulansie Perera

How did it feel when you first heard that you got chosen?
So the ironic thing was that when we were chosen, we weren’t sure. Someone said for us to sing ‘Rain Drops on Roses’ and we sang it and it was actually really like the play, like we are so fitting for the ‘Von Trapp’ children. When we heard we got chosen, we were like ‘let’s party!’ and so happy. It was crazy, it’s a crazy feeling.

How is it working in a big production like this with your newly made friends who are also your on-stage siblings?
So we met quite a lot of new people we haven’t met before and we also met some people we already knew and like I had a reunion with a friend who was my best friend 8 years ago so that was also crazy. It’s fun and it’s a very new experience. We bonded together very closely.   

What is your favourite character from 'The Sound of Music' and why?
My favourite character from ‘The Sound of Music’ would be Maria. She is so honest. She is so sweet and loving. Everything she does comes from her heart.  

Ayra Wadood

I was very excited. I was so excited that I couldn’t speak.

It’s really nice and it’s a new experience for me.

I actually like everybody especially Kurt, Louisa, Brigitta and Friedrich.  

Kimaya Wijesuriya

I felt excited. I also felt like crying because I was so excited for the first practice.

Well it tough at times but I can also be really fun at times.

My favourite character is Marta because Im playing the role of Marta in the play. She is also really hyper and pink is her favourite colour.
