In fact, we’ve simplified it to the borderline basic must-haves.
Here’s your basic men’s skin care 101.
● Cleanse : Invest in an optimum quality cleanser, because you should cleanse your face about twice a day. Try look for a product that contains alpha hydroxy acid. It helps wash away dead skin cells, keep the pores clean and reveals new skin.
● Shave : You can ensure a perfect shave by first washing and exfoliating your face. Still, shaving does tend to damage your skin, however minimally. So get ahold of a shaving cream that will lubricate your skin so that the razor blade will glide over smoothly, without causing razor burn. Having shaved, wash your face with cold water to close pores and refresh the skin. Follow it up with aftershave to soothe skin.
● Moisturize : As you age, your skin tends to dry out its essential oils. This is why a good moisturizer comes in handy. A moisturizer that contains vitamins A, C and E protects your skin from aging, but do steer clear of moisturizers that contains sodium lauryl sulfate as it will dry out your natural oils.
● Sunscreen : Sunscreen is the most underrated skin care product in Sri Lanka and we couldn’t stress its importance more. Sunscreen protects you from skin discolorations, facial red veins, premature skin aging and skin cancer among many others. Ensure the SPF factor is at least 15 or 30.
When choosing skin care products always choose them according to your skin type - normal, dry, oily and combination skin types have various products that work for them.
