Waffles have been around since the 14th century and that is a pretty long time considering we're now in a world filled with the Kardashians and smartphones. Waffles are a Parisian dish along with multiple reproductions of it from Belgium to even Hong Kong!

We hit the streets of Colombo and were left in a daze of whipped cream, ice cream, chocolate sauce and most importantly the crispy, fluffy waffles!

5 Things You Need To Know About Waffles

1. Waffles inspired Nikes first pair of sneakers

5. Parry Gripp created a song called " Do you like waffles? " due to his love for waffles

This dish would be the ideal breakfast! With a half done egg on top of savoury waffles with herbs along with a splash of sriracha, hollandaise and a gathering of fresh shallots and cilantro. If you want flavour and to be health conscious, then this is the one.

Head down to The Paddington, which pretty much suits every palate with their menu!

Savoury Chicken Chili Waffles

Who knew spicy chili chicken goes so well with waffles? Just look at that picture and you'd get your tummy working. It has the right amount of spice and sweetness and the right crunch of the waffles although we wished there was more chicken in this topping!

5. Il Gelato

A cutesy ice cream parlor with a Vegas vibe with the electric bright setting on their wall.

Gelato Belgian Waffles

Despite the amazing interior and friendly staff we were disappointed with the waffles. It was soggy and flat with only the Italian chocolate gelato that made it stand out.

6. Jagro

Literally the haven for strawberries!

Waffles with Strawberries and Cream

Despite the description on the menu saying the waffle would be served with fresh cream, our serving of waffles had no cream. The waffle was crispy and spongy in the middle, and went well with the sweet strawberries. The syrup was quite watery for our taste.

What a waste of time giving publicity to availability of ''Waffles'' in Colombo Who on earth can afford such unhealthy rubbish. Daily mirror u should be ashamed to give publicity this kind of rubbish

Lol. All teens and young adults who earn a lot goes out in weekends to spend on junk and healthy eating. Just because you can't afford it doesn't mean others can't. They probably did this video because there were a lot of searches for waffles on their website.

  2. Mom says:

I don't get it. Aren't waffles anyway full of egg? So, why is there that bull's-eye again, on the breakfast waffle? Also, why on earth are you encouraging restaurants to virtually fleece people? Do you know to cook at all? Or is it that you just know to go singing praises of junk food you get free?

Thanks for the review girls. Was thinking of where to go for waffles today and this really helped. I've had Jagro waffles a couple of times it was really good. I think it was just a bad time for you guys. Best of luck.
