Frozen Yoghurt or fro-yo, seems to be catching up in Colombo as of late and the latest to the number of ‘Fro-Yo’ options is Swirl Frozen Yoghurt. Situated down Isipathana Mawatha in Colombo, Swirl serves four flavours, Original and Mango which are 100% fat free and Strawberry and Blueberry which are 98% fat free.

These four flavours can be indulged either as Sundaes or with liquid toppings like strawberry, caramel and chocolate or even with dry toppings like pebbles, chocolate chips, chocolate chip cookies, cashew nuts, almond flakes or cereal. (I was told that some of the materials used are imported from the US while the rest are sourced from Sri Lanka.)

The fro-yo served at Swirl is not overly sweet and can be enjoyed either in a normal cone or normal cup. They also have the option of waffle cones and waffle bowls.

I would definitely recommend their Strawberry fro-yo with strawberry topping, served in a waffle bowl. By the time you are done with your fro-yo, the bowl is soaked just right to nibble on! What’s not to love!

The Mango flavoured frozen yoghurt was also quite delicious, I had mine served with pebbles and almond chips while the Original is ideal with chocolate chip cookies and caramel topping. And the Blueberry is wonderful just on its own.

Apart from the convenient location, and the generous portions, Swirl’s fro-yo is also very reasonably priced – starting from just Rs 50 for a normal cone. On a warm and balmy Colombo afternoon, you should definitely head down to ‘Swirl’ for a slightly less sinful treat!
