It’s high time a place dedicated to catering at backyard gatherings and garden parties came up, and ‘Backyard BBQ’ is a stroke of luck to barbeque lovers! A small, cozy outlet just around the Mount Lavinia junction on Galle Road, the venue dishes out some good quality barbeque items on an assorted menu.
Two big quotes on either sides that drive home the real meaning and authentic preparation of barbeque welcome you as you enter and one is easily half convinced to try the ‘real deal’ out.
Backyard BBQ has been around since the beginning of this year and has already gained a customer base. Ross Buultjens, former manager of Silk, took up his love for cooking then after a successful career of dj-ing.
Having some professional level knowledge on how the original slow-cooked American style barbeque works with the use of wood smoke, Buultjens felt it was time a barbeque outlet came up.
He hopes to further the business in times to come, with the opening of a chain of outlets. Commenting on what makes Backyard BBQ special, he pointed out that there is something different about the options available, as well as special packages. Not surprisingly, they go with the tag line, Barbeque “is an obsession.”
As to what is on offer, the list is a long and interesting one. Ribs prepared in two styles, St. Louis and Kansas City styles are available on your favourite choice of meat. There’s also chicken in Tandoori, Backyard’s Greek and Satay styles.
Ordinary pizzas, Turkish pizzas and Dessert pizzas, all in a range of flavours from pepperoni, smoked chicken and other innovative toppings (as well as titles!) are on the menu. The dessert pizza range includes ones that have almost any dessert option, from raspberry to cream cheese to chocolate to mixed fruit. Burghers and hot dogs are also on offer prepared in over five different styles.
You can come over and collect what you want to – everything is made fresh upon order. Else, have them deliver to you by calling them up.
