When you think PIE you picture goeey molten pieces of luscious apple pie or rich decadent chocolate layered concoctions. Strawberry pie doesn’t really fit the bill.
But you will be pleasantly surprised by this ingenious little dessert that is quite simple to make but yet oozes sophisticated charm, that when enjoyed as an after dinner delight will leave any guest aghast at your culinary capabilities.
So if I can make pie so can you, make my strawberry pie a part of your menu this week.
1 ¼ cups flour
1tsp sugar
½ tsp salt
1 stick of butter
3-4 tbsp of ice water
2 ½ lbs of strawberries
1 ½ cups of sugar
3 tbsp of tapioca or saow
2 tsp ofcornstarch
¾ tsp of salt
1 cup of oats
½ cup of flour
1 stick of butter
To make the base of the pie in a bowl whisk together flour, sugar and salt. Cut in the one stick of butter until it resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in ice water, one tablespoon at a time. When you can squeeze a handful of dough and it sticks together it is ready. Shape into a ball and wrap in plastic wrap, then chill for at least an hour.
On a lightly floured surface roll out dough to slightly bigger than your pan. Line the pan with dough and set aside until the topping is made. Ina a bowl toss strawberries with one cup of sugar abd a ¼ tsp of salt. Fill the pan with the made mixture. Chill until the topping is made.
To make the topping stir oats, flour , 1/2 cup of sugar, ½ tsp of salt. Cut the butter into small clumps and mix in together. It would resemble a crumbly mixture. Put ove the top of the pie.
Bake pie at 250 degrees for 1 ½ hours until top is golden and the filling is bubbling with sweetness.
