Who wouldn’t welcome the sweet aromatic smells of newly baked ‘Jammy Buns’ wafting from your kitchen. Impossible you say, too much work you scream…not to worry my fellow mums, if you haven’t noticed by now all the recipes I bring forth to you are mum-friendly as well as child friendly with the sole purpose of depicting you as the culinary goddess that we all know you are. This recipe is so easy to make that all you have to do is supervise while the kids do all the work. Enjoy!
Ingredients (for about 12 buns)
Method
Before you start assembling the buns, turn on your oven to 180 degrees. Sieve the flour and baking powder into a large bowl. Cut your butter or magarine into small chunks and rub into the flour until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Then stir in the sugar.
In a separate bowl break the egg and add the milk. Whisk together and add to the breadcrumb mixture. Knead all the ingredients together until mixed through and make the mixture into a ball.
Cut the ball into 12 equal pieces. Place them on a greased baking tray. You can greased the tray with a bit of butter to prevent the balls from sticking. Slightly dent each ball and fill with a spoonful of your favorite jelly. You can also sprinkle the tops of the jam balls with some brown sugar for a sweet crunchy effect.
Then bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes until golden brown. Take out and leave to cool before you dig into them since the jam will be piping hot.
Alternatively if you are not big jam fans you can fill hte middle with some pieces of broken chocolate, for some tasty chocolate buns. Either way these irresistible delights will usually leave some messy faces around your table. Enjoy!
