Now fellow food lovers please do not read this in despair. Yes, its sticky toffee pudding that glorious delectable delight that tickles and tantalizes your taste buds, but I promise you in my ’cheats’ version you hardly have to bat an eyelid to enjoy this mouthwatering desert.
It is so quick and easy to make that you can surprise your guests at the impromptu midweek dinner, leaving them sticky pudding tongue tied at your culinary prowess.
Ingredients
Left over chocolate cake
50g sultanas
50g brown sugar
Vanilla essence
50g butter
75ml double cream
Method
When you have kids in the house, you always have chocolate cake. Crumble some left over chocolate cake into a baking dish.
Add in the sultanas and give it a good stir.
To make the sauce place the sugar, butter and cream in a small pan and gently heat together, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
Whilst stirring add a dash of vanilla essence.
Pour the sauce over the cake mixture and bake in the oven for about ten to fifteen minutes until it is all bubbly and gooey.
Your homemade sticky toffee pudding is best served with a dollop of ice cream. If you’re not a big fan of sultanas you can always substitute some chopped nuts.
Either way this is a welcome decadent desert to be enjoyed anytime of the day!
