If you’re a food buff on the lookout for something new in Colombo then you owe it to yourself to stop by Lemon and savor Chef Koluu’s six new menu additions, including one completely vegetarian dish; that is if the charmingly tranquil atmosphere, superb cocktails and delicious desserts weren’t incentive enough.

“We are always looking to give diners something new that also maintains its local flavour, we always aim to put our own signature twist on all our dishes and that is something we’ve continued with the new dishes. There is something for everyone here with seafood, and vegetarian dishes as well and I’m sure that all our regulars will find new favorites.” Chef Koluu said.

The new main courses consist of a succulent Australian Roast Lamb served with mint gravy, grilled vegetables and Mediterranean potatoes, Grilled Chicken Lemon Style, a particularly interesting treat of filler of chicken stuffed with feta cheese and spinach, served with creamy mushroom sauce, baked potatoes and Shanghai Seafood Noodles.

Further additions to menu include Chicken Korma served with steamed rice, cucumber salad and mango chutney, Mediterranean baked fish with Lyon potatoes and mixed salad and for the vegetarians among you, creamy mushroom pancakes: an assortment of mushrooms wrapped in herb pancakes served with a mixed salad.

I started my course with some truly amazing beef cutlets that could serve as a meal all by themselves, followed by a personal favorite, the prawn and spinach soup that still comes very highly recommended.

The roast lamb was next and many kudos points were earned. Prepared to perfection, the lamb was simply delicious with the mint gravy serving as an excellent complement to what is likely to be a very popular dish.

I also sampled the grilled chicken Lemon style, another dish that is almost certain to go down well with diners. The creamy mushroom sauce-feta cheese combination is truly inspired and as always the meat was prepared just so.

Stuffed to the ears, I ended dinner with a serving of Ginger and Mocha Meringue with a Chocolate Sauce, a highly recommended treat for those of you with a propensity for all things sweet.

The restaurant will also be gearing up for the festive season with the inclusion of Christmas-cake-ice-cream and Christmas Pudding served with Brandy butter along with other season themed events, so all things considered it looks like there are going to be lots of reasons to take some time out and visit Lemon this season.
