With friends dropping in during the holidays I am always trying to keep what I offer as snacks new and exciting. We all love our patis, cutlets and the odd biscuit, but they tend to get ordinary so why not make your teatime goodie a conversation piece by trying my simple to make jazzed up Maries.

The recipe usually involves items you ordinarily have in your cupboard and can be whipped up immediately to be enjoyed by one and all. So surprise your New Year guests with these delightful chocolate goodies.

Ingredients

Chocolate broken into squares (prefer dark cooking chocolate)

Marie biscuits

Topping, mini marshmallows, glace cherries or slithered almonds

Method

Take your biscuit of choice, I always tend to have a packet of marie biscuits rattling in the back of my kitchen cupboard.

Break your chocolate into tiny squares.

Then place a single square on top of the biscuit, place on an oven tray and put into a hot oven for about three minutes or until the chocolate is soft and squishy.

Then add your topping of choice, mini marshmallows, glace cherries or even some slithered almonds will do nicely.

Now serve, HOT HOT to your unsuspecting guest. It’s a sweet and delicious New Year after all.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!
