Most of us have a sinful attraction to chocolate, but with regards to deserts they are plenty of delectable dishes that do not include a drop of the said cocoa bean.

So let’s be adventurous, don’t stop reading just because this recipe doesn’t include chocolate instead introduce your taste buds to other delicious flavors that will still have you reeling in a bubble of culinary contentment. My children of course would eat chocolate in any shape or form twenty four/seven.

So therefore I make it an effort to introduce them to other non chocolate desserts, for otherwise they would be missing out on a whole different palate of flavors. So don’t miss out, give your taste buds a different twist in my delicious after dinner desert of gingersnap and banana.

Ingredients

3 cups vanilla ice-cream, softened

10 ginger cookies, chopped

4 bananas, sliced

1/4 cup chopped toasted almonds

Method

In a bowl, fill in a layer of ice-cream, chopped cookies, banana and finally slithered almonds. Repeat until you have topped up the bowl.

Finish with a thin layer of ice-cream and almonds. Then refreeze until firm. Do not let the ice-cream melt too much, otherwise when it refreezes it will crystallize.

Alternatively you can also make the dessert in individual cups, in which case get the appropriate quantities required.

This refreshingly cool desert is a taste explosion in your mouth and will surely have you coming back for more. Chocolate or no chocolate, it ‘s a winner!
