Coco Veranda, Colombo’s favourite coffee shop/café has warmth written all over it’s name. Walking into their outlet at No.32, Ward Place, you are welcomed by smiling, friendly staff who are only too happy to help you with your order.
Certain items on the menu have stayed strong since their opening two and a half years back. Speak of the Death by Chocolate cake and I have a friend who squeals out loud, remembering that chocolate cake at Coco Veranda is an exquisite treat.
Six layers of blissfully soft cake, drizzled with chocolate sauce - this has become a household name. Bring out the Strawberry Mojito, with crushed ice and fresh strawberries, this beverage is just the thing to indulge in on a hot day in Colombo.
You won’t be disappointed - we assure you. Also serving a variety of Filicori Zecchini coffees, deluxe frappes and fruit blends have remained popular too in addition to their range of burgers, sandwiches, salads and other dishes.
When Food Factor learned that Coco Veranda was opening their doors to Crescat Boulevard, we wondered if it would have the same atmosphere and project the same warmth that loyal patrons have been so used to for the past two and a half years.
Having opened just three weeks ago, the second outlet has already grown into a hit amongst old and new customers alike. “We were worried at first because maintaining consistency is of utmost importance. This is a new beginning for Coco Veranda and while adding that this outlet is more youth-oriented with its vibrant colours and such, this is still what you would turn to if you want to just chill with your friends over coffee and conversation. The music is relaxing and we are so happy to have opened here,” explained Head of Social Media and Public Relations, Priscilla Koch.
Indeed, it is a new place altogether with a different ambience and colourful, vibrant new interiors along with crisp, white furniture. But, with the familiarity and amazing service that its patrons are so used to. The new outlet also brought with it a refinement of the old logo with Coco in her element of sophistication and poise.
“Coco treats all its customers just like family and we thank them for being with us right from its inception. They have given us feedback - positive and negative and this has helped us immensely. We thank our frontline staff and they are the reason we have achieved so much,” said Priscilla.
Coco Veranda has a few specials coming up in addition to preparing for the festive season further ahead. New additions to the menu include the wraps (lemon mayo chicken and curried black potato) and the selection of olives. For delivery, please call on 0112445235 (Colombo 02, 03) and 0117635635 (Colombo 07). Coco Veranda can be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/cocoisyours and on Twitter at @cocoveranda. The outlet at Crescat is located at G-9 and is open from 7AM to 11PM daily.

Nov 03, 2012 at 04:11 pmI was once at there Ward Place outlet. The staff were not friendly at all and obstructed me from sitting in a particular table saying it was reserved, but yet there were no reserved board placed at that time. However, i agree that they are big in social media.
