The Unilever Food Lounge was an umbrella of Unilever food brands bringing famous brands such as Astra, Marmite and Knorr together under one space. The concept of the Unilever Food Lounge was to reintroduce customers to these brands and show them in a different light. This was done by incorporating these brands into the recipes of different dishes and snacks that was offered at the Food Lounge for customers to taste how Unilever food brands could be used in many dishes.
Speaking to us about the pop-up Food Lounge, a representative of Unilever said,
“GLF is a melting pot of cultures and Unilever took this opportunity to create a unique Sri Lankan culture with our food and give customers a taste of our signature Unilever food.”
The Food Lounge consisted of Sri Lankan fusion food that can be purchased at an affordable price. The food was all made incorporating the food brands. Customers could taste the Marmite brand with their Pol Sambol, Cheese and Marmite Croissant at Rs. 100 whereas Knorr and Astra could be tasted through their Roast Paan and Chicken Curry at Rs. 200, their cheesy pastas and their meat pies.
The food given at the Food Lounge is served in generous portions with cheese falling out of croissants and chicken curry oozing from its roast paan stuffing. With great pricing and overly generous portions, the Unilever Food Lounge was packed with Festival goers and Galle Fort visitors, ready for some good food.
The Food Lounge which operated all day from morning to night also hosted themed dinner nights offering a different menu for dinner every day. From Roast Paan and Curry Night to Marmite Kottu Night and EpiQ BBQ Night, Unilever proceeded to showcase the multiple uses of their brands in cooking.
With such a creative set-up, Unilever saw to a lot of repeat customers coming back for their food.
Though the focus was on the food, Unilever Food Lounge also created the perfect backdrop for customers to enjoy their Lounge by creating a relaxing ambience and providing customers ample space to relax. With a lounge space made entirely of beanbags and some amazing live music by the band, The Bakery, in the background, the Unilever Food Lounge was the ideal spot to take a break and indulge in some good food.
Overall, the Unilever Food Lounge presented itself as an affordable, classy place that seamlessly combined both indoor and outdoor spaces to give customers the perfect marriage of food, music and a good time.
