Amandi and Eran Alahakoon, started The Bake Cottage six years back when they were in college. Today, The Bake Cottage is a successful, full-functioning business with Amandi handling the baking and supplies and Eran overseeing the business and marketing.
“What we love about Christmas is how it brings people together. Everyone enjoys the spirit of Christmas with their loved ones and we are happy to be a part of that celebration!”. With Christmas just around the corner, the duo are excited to whip up their favourite goodies and cater to the season’s demands.
What is your previous experience with baking?
We used to watch and enjoy our moms’ bake. But apart from that, we didn’t have knowledge as such. It all started when I made some cupcakes for Eran’s birthday back when we were dating. He found them to be so good and instilled the idea. So then we started TBC on the side and it became a full-time thing, which we continue till today. To date, TBC has been a part of so many milestone celebrations, from birthdays to weddings and we still enjoy the feedback on our products as if it’s still our first day!
Did you always want to start a food-related business?
Initially no, as both of us had different plans. But we are glad that everything led to this.
What are the items you make at the moment?
We specialize in cakes, cupcakes, wedding cakes, dessert jars, cake jars and brownies and other goodies.
What is your favourite thing to make?
There’s no one favourite thing as we really enjoy making everything we make because it just simply makes us happy knowing that someone is going to enjoy it as much as we do.
What items will be available to order for Christmas this year?
So for Christmas, we have different goodies:
Is there a minimum order customers need to know of?
Christmas goodies: No minimum order.
Other stuff we do: Brownies and cupcakes usually have minimum order quantities and it depends on what the customer needs.
How many days in advance do you need to be informed?
As we work on a pre-order basis, we do need at least 2-3 days prior notice.

They are super cool people and, myself, as a person who looks into customer service a bit too much everywhere I go, they have never disappointed me. Awesome work guys. Keep it up.
