Colombo’s restaurant scene is ever-expanding and it continued, even amidst the lockdown period. JunctionTen48 is one of the latest additions to Colombo’s restaurant spaces, designed to deliver a great experience to its guests.
With customized recipes tried and tested by Damian Ratwatte, co-owner of JunctionTen48 inspired by his experience in the culinary field, guests are therefore offered a range of Italian cuisine including pizza, pasta, and homemade burgers. The venue also accommodates BYOB options and a curated BYOB menu with Sri Lankan bites is also available.
“Our main focus is to get Sri Lankans to experience a different type of cuisine,” said Ratwatte. “We don’t serve fried rice or kottu. We want our guests to try out new dishes which people eat around the world.”
The space is also co-owned by Sri Lanka cricket batsman Niroshan Dickwella and since the two owners are sportsmen, the restaurant screens all sporting events with special offers and entertainment. The name of the restaurant also reflects their passion for the respective sports. Ratwatte plays for the Havelocks rugby team representing jersey number 10 while Dickwella represents jersey number 48. The restaurant is located at the intersection of Pittala Junction, hence the name JunctionTen48.
The venue also includes private spaces that could be rented out for meetings and functions. “If anybody is planning to rent out the entire restaurant space, they are welcome,” Ratwatte added.
Some of their fast-moving items on the menu include the thin-crust pizzas. During our review, we tried their Chicken Popcorn served as a starter which is marinated in curd. The Pulled Chicken Wrap comes along with a nai miris mayonnaise and it is recommended for those who have an appetite for spicy meals. For mains, we were served the BBQ Chicken Pizza which was enough for two persons. The latest addition to the lunch menu is rice and curry served in a pot with meat options including chicken, fish, and beef. Red rice and white rice options too are available. Apart from that, the menu also includes beverages such as fresh juices. Meals are available at a price range of Rs. 1200 – Rs. 2400.
“A new menu including the main menu and bites menu will also be launched soon. We are targeting a different concept for the guests,” Ratwatte further said.
