Chatting with Yureni Noshika

This week we interviewed the beautiful Yureni Noshika. Yureni is an actress, tv host and an entrepreneur. Life Online met with her to talk about the latest happenings in her life.

Hi Yureni. How are you doing?

I’m doing great, as always. Busy but happy.

So tell us,what have you been up to lately?

I started my own slipper range. I’ve been busy with the production of that.Apart from that I’m organizing a sing along in December which I will tell you more about. I’m also doing my usual acting and hosting.

Tell us more about slipper range?

My slipper range is called “YN Totally Trendy” It’s a very trendy range, as the name suggests, as I am a very trendy person who likes to follow the latest trends. I have a huge youth fan base following me and this range is specially for them! The unique thing about this slipper range is that it has got catchy phrases “Mama hot dha?” “Habai dhaiyya” etc. It’s mostly targeted for festive times like Christmas and New Year but I’m hoping to make it more regular as I’ve received very positive feedback. Hopefully in future, I can supply more frequently.

I’ve also got a few more projects for my fans, in the pipeline, which I don’t want to talk about right now as I want it to be a surprise! However I know my fans will love this! Maybe during the Sinhala and Tamil new year season, I will launch this.

Anything else exciting you’re planning?

Like I said before, I’m planning a sing along in December with Sohan and the experiements. This will be held on the 17th at Avendra gardens, Negombo from 7.30 pm onwards. Tickets will be sold via tickets.lk soon! I invite everyone to join us for an evening of fun! Apart from this I have been offered a role in a historical movie based on Ravana. We haven’t started shooting yet, but I am looking forward to it. I’ve also got a tour planned in December.

What plans do you have for 2015?

I’ve always been an achiever and a go-getter.  There are big goals I want to achieve and I’m nowhere near achieving those! The work I’m doing now is minor compared to the things I’d like to. My main goal in life is to be a part of international cinema. I really hope and pray that the year 2015 brings me lots of good blessings and surprises and I can get closer to achieving my dream of being an international film star.

What do you like to do during your very rare, free time?

Free time is almost like a luxury to me now! During my free time I like to read inspirational books. I’m not a huge fan of novels. I also like to watch movies and documentaries. If I’m in the mood I cook. People have told me my dishes are delicious! My friends say I make the best coffee! I have friends who come straight from the airport to my place to have my coffee. I don’t know why, I make coffee the usual way, but they all say it’s delicious!

What was your childhood like?

My childhood was very difficult. I lost both my parents at the tender age of 7 years. I never had a normal, carefree life like other kids. I didn’t receive special attention like they do. But I’m glad I went through all that ‘cus it’s made me in to who I am today! I’m much stronger because of my childhood. Although there are things I would have liked to change but then what can you do? Life isn’t the same for everyone.

Future plans?

To be stable in life.  I want to find a good life partner and settle down. I have friends who have got married and settled down, and when the time is right, I want to settle down too, with the right person, in a stable relationship. Apart from that I want to fulfill my dreams of being an international movie star! It doesn’t matter if it’s Hollywood, Bollywood or even Timbuktu, I want to be in the international cinema.

I also want to give back to my fans. My slipper range is solely dedicated to them! I’ve got lots planned out for them in the near future!

Favourite food and clothing brand?

Japanese, Italian and Indian.

I love brands but I can’t afford the high end ones, but I really like Forever 21, H&M etc. But I’m most comfortable in hacked jeans, t-shirt and rubber slippers. I hate dressing up and I never wear make up in normal, day to day life. The girl you see on TV isn’t the real me. I’m a very simple, carefree girl.

Best and Worst part about being an actress?

Best - Being loved by all the fans! I have youth fans who follow and look up to me. I don’t think being a normal person you’d get to experience the love and adoration you get from fans! I have fans coming up to me telling me they idolize and look up to me! It’s the best feeling knowing you made an impact on someone’s life positively!

Worst - Criticism. Not everyone will accept you. You will be judged by people who don’t even know you! It’s very agonizing waking up to read stories of lies people have said about you! But then again everything has a positive and negative side to it. I take the good and ignore the bad. I’m very open minded like that. I pray to God to forgive those who say negative things about me. What else can I do? People judge me according to what I wear and I think that’s very petty. Just cus someone wears something short, doesn’t mean she is a bad person.

A final message to your fans?

I love you all so much! I’m here today because of you all! So thank you from the bottom of my heart! Thank you for being so loving and supportive! I get tons of messages every day to my Facebook and I’m obviously unable to reply to everyone, but just know that I appreciate and love all of you a lot! Please keep showering me with your love and support ‘cus it will help me achieve my bigger dreams in life!
