Women Republic is one of the latest clothing stores to appear online; started late last year by Dilsha and her husband Udaya, the store specalizes in women’s wear, catering to women between the ages of 18 – 40 years old and  is quickly growing popularity among online shoppers.

Tell us about Women Republic?

I started the store with an idea of studying the behavior of an online store in Sri Lanka and also the behavior of the target market. Never did I expect it to take off the way it has and this has inspired me to continue it and aspire to make it even better and better.

Describe some of the items you have?

We currently sell only ladies dresses with a mix of casual and party wear, but in the future we will be adding more items to the store in the likes of; tops, skirts, office wear, shoes and accessories.

You only sell one item per design, why?

Mainly because when I go out I don’t like if someone else is wearing the same thing that I am wearing. Just imagine you wear a dress for a party or a function and there you meet three others wearing the same dress! I am sure that any lady anywhere in the world would like to avoid a situation like that. Besides when something is common where is the fun in that?  That’s why I decided to sell only one item per design.

How does the sale and delivery procedure work?

Anybody interested can send us a message on FB on www.facebook.com/womenrepublicLK or email us on [email protected] to order the items and then we will deliver if it’s within the  Colombo city limits or else we will courier or send through registered parcel post. I have an idea at the back of my mind to start off a small showroom but let’s see. It’s still on the drawing board.

How have sales been since starting the store, and what has the customer feedback been like?

We get inquiries about our dresses daily and most of them actually ask whether we have a store for them to come and check the items. So I give them the option of coming and visiting my place. Since we started only a couple of weeks back we didn’t get a lot of orders still, but it’s catching up. And fingers crossed enquiries will convert to sales very soon.

What can we expect from the store in the future?

We have a lot of plans for the future. Just like our page and you will see for your self.
