Congratulations to the newly crowned Miss World Sri Lanka 2015 as well as all the Runners – up and all the winners of the Mini Pageants!
Catching up with them moments after their big win, this is what they had to say;
“I’m so speechless right now. I can’t even think of anything to say! I’m so speechless!” - Miss World Sri Lanka 2015, Thilini Amarasuriya
“I was so excited when I was named 1st Runner – up. I want to thank everyone who coached us and taught us everything” - Jayathi De Silva
“I was really surprised. So happy to have won 2nd Runner – Up” – Ayesha Fernando
After the grand finale, the panel of judges spoke to us about what it was like to choose the winner…
“I think the Miss World pageant is much more deeper than the other pageants so it’s not just about how you look, it’s about your intelligence and how you hold yourself up high. All the contestants had good charities. When we picked the winner, we looked at the overall thing - beauty is a big part but you need the intelligence as well, and they also need to handle themselves among 120 contestants. The winner we picked did well overall and the scores speak on behalf of that” – Sabrina Herft
“Being that Beauty with a Purpose was the theme we were looking into. A lot of people say that beauty and brains don’t go together so we had to see in the contestants how close those two were” - Ravindra Randeniya
“Winner for this year is beautiful inside and outside” – Wena
“The winner did a very good job and when she goes to the competition they can improve themselves more!” – Nisrina Nurul Hidayah
We also got a few thoughts from the audience about the show and the winner;
“The winners were very good and the show was also very good” – Kayria
“Miss World Sri Lanka should be capable enough to represent our country, be beautiful, intelligent and a good brand ambassador. She (Thilini) has that capability and she can improve more. She needs to be a strong contestant. I wish her all the best” – Roshan Ranawana
“Urm. Well I guess the judges decided the best and did justice” – Anurodha
“It was a very nice” – Cyril
“The show was good, very well organised and up to international standards. People who deserved, won. The one I chose became Miss World Sri Lanka so I was happy” – Yashoda Wimaladharma
“The winner is really pretty and the first runner up gave such a great fantastic response. Well thought! It’s so obvious that these contestants have beauty with a purpose” – Hirunika Premachandra
“We came all the way from Dubai for this and it was lovely. The winner was expected but beautiful” – Hannes
