Let birds fly free Campaign, spearheaded by the team at TicketsLK.com is a campaign dedicated and devoted to the cause of freeing caged birds. Stemming from a society that emphasizes human values on a daily basis, ironically; most do not hesitate to turn a blind eye upon the atrocious behaviour committed against these harmless animals.
Birds are fascinating creatures through which we draw great pleasure and inspiration by watching them, or quite simply having them in the backdrop of our day-to-day lives. These beautiful and graceful vagabonds of nature are an integral part of our ecosystem and they contribute immensely to our wellbeing and the survival of our environment. By oxygenating air and transforming pollutants into nutrients, they are a constant value addition to our habitat. Unfortunately, as society evolved and environmental conditions worsened; birds have been subjected to extremely vulnerable conditions. Increasingly, birds endemic to Sri Lanka such as Sparrows, Munias and Pigeons are being smuggled and sold illegally at various locations across the country in an attempt to make money by robbing them off their freedom.
The “Let birds fly free” campaign aims to address this undermined issue by raising awareness amongst the local community by attempting to eventually eradicate the practice of illegally caging and selling birds. The initial phase of the funds needed to head this campaign will be collected through the selling of wristbands priced at Rs 200 each, which can be purchased online through the TicketsLK.com website and by simply visiting their office at 5th Lane, Colombo 03. With the money raised, the campaign organizers plan to print awareness material including posters and placards targeting schools in order to create the much-needed platform for young children to be more self-aware of the dire need of protecting birdlife.
You can make a difference by contributing to this project or by simply being aware of the nationwide illegal activities that are being carried out almost, on a daily basis. Harmful activities carried out against birds are seldom spoken of and through this worthy cause, people are encouraged to think twice before they deprive these beautiful creatures of the only thing that really matters- their freedom.

"Love of animals is a universal impulse, a common ground on which all of us may meet. By loving and understanding animals, perhaps we humans shall come to understand each other."
