Sri Lanka's leading Jeweller, Vogue Jewellers' Design Team member, Danushi Aluthwala won the Futuristic Jewellery Design Award in the Professional Group Award Category at the recently held Dubai International Jewellery Design Competition 2013 (DIJW), held parallel to the Dubai Jewellery Week.
This event marks the second occasion where a masterpiece produced by Vogue Jewellers has been recognised internationally.
"I was inspired by a wind turbine, which will be the most promising renewable source of energy in the future when many other energy sources will be scarce or completely exhausted." said Ms. Aluthwala.
Her indigenous masterpiece, the dual purpose ring and pendant design is indeed an ample illustration that Sri Lanka's premier Jeweller, Vogue while focusing on contemporary and traditional jewellery catering to all ethnic segments of the market focuses on the most modern and futuristic designs too.
Explaining further, Ms. Aluthwala said "This particular design was adapted in such a way that it can be worn both as a pendant and a ring - a trend which is currently popular."
However, she didn't fail to admit that the skilled and experienced master craftsmen at Vogue certainly add further value in executing the outstanding designs, which are created by all the members of the Vogue Design Team.
During her 13-year career as a designer, Ms. Aluthwalahas created many an outstanding designsand among them were truly exceptional items, which have won prestigious awards.
The Diamond necklace she designed, inspired by a delicateVara flower being dispersed in the wind bagged the 1st Prize in the Diamond category at Facets 2013, while the necklace inspired by a Sandakada pahana and a Sesatha bagged the 1st Prize in the Coloured Stone category at Facets 2012.
She is also grateful to the management of Vogue Jewellers for the constant encouragement and unfailing motivation given to her to excel in this manner. The high standard of expertise of the team, the working environment, the state-of-the-art facilities and most of all, the culture at Vogue Jewellers are essential for her and the rest of the team to continually produce outstanding creations, she added.
