The Style Files : What You Should Be Wearing Now!
As much as we love seeing new looks come down the runway season after season, it's time we stopped waiting around and started shopping this fashion month's most on trend pieces - ASAP. With ruffled blouses, flat mules, and off-the-shoulder tops dominating the S/S 2016 collections, we're ready to integrate these pieces into our wardrobes now and luckily, these looks aren't hard to come by - rather, they're readily accessible at some of our favourite retailers and might even already be hanging in your closet.
Ruffles
One of my favourite trends, it’s feminine and romantic. Ruffles add extra volume to tops and dresses making them feel sensual. When maxi ruffles are applied on shirts and off the shoulder tops, it makes them both extravagant and romantic at the same time, able to make the more casual look unique. Choose them in pastel colours, florals or juxtaposed with horizontal lines. More sophisticated pieces are often characterized by many frills and ruffles - they make any outfit feel instantly more polished. One of my favourite adaptations of this look is Jacqueline Fernandez in a pale pink ruffled sari.
Flat Mules

Finally a trend your feet will thank you for. We saw slip-ons from countless designers from Victoria Beckham to Alexander Wang and Gucci in between. Comfy shoes are still trending with these slip on flat mules as the latest designer blessing for our feet.
Off-the-Shoulder and Strapless

Bare shoulders seem to be the new erogenous zone in fashion so take advantage of this springy runway trend now, as it’s fun, flirty and easy to incorporate into your wardrobe. I think that the continuing fascination with off-the-shoulder looks is very interesting and feminine. Along with straight across off-the-shoulder looks this season we’re also seeing more subtle peeks of the shoulder and uneven necklines in structured materials, flowing dresses and denim.
Slip Dresses

The word "sexy" gains a whole new meaning with the lingerie-inspired silky slip dresses that seemed to make an appearance at just about every fashion show. And believe it or not, they're a killer piece to wear alone or layered.
Wide Belts

You may not have rocked a wide belt since the early 2000s, but the years of no-belt or skinny belts are over, and they're making way for bigger-the-better statement ones that can be worn on pretty much every occasion. Pair it with your frilly dresses, boxy blouses, or even over a sari if you’re feeling adventurous.
The New White Shirt
Saoirse Ronan
For 2016 the typical white shirt, is not typical at all and is getting a long-overdue upgrade with oversized bow details, asymmetric hems, and just about anything you can imagine. The everyday white shirt - a major wardrobe staple is set to become far more fashion forward with interesting embellishments.
