Meet Tristine Fernando

This week we meet Tristine, an old girl of Bishop’s College (she shouted “the best school in Colombo” when I asked her the question!).

She is currently following CIM.

She emerged 2nd runner up and winner of Miss Personality at the Model of the Year for Super Model International organised by Brian Kerkoven. She is now a popular pick for many fashion shoots in Sri Lanka.

Tristine talks about her interests, strengths and more…

You were crowned 2nd runner up at Model of the Year. Will we see you in any other future pageants?
Yes, of course I hope to participate in a beauty pageant in a couple of years for which I am grooming myself.

What was the training and guidance you’ve obtained to come so far?
The guidance and support came from my family which I am more than thankful for. They have always encouraged me to fulfil my dreams and have always been an inspiration in my life.

All credit must go to Brian Kerkoven, Lou Ching Wong and Senaka De Silva for training me in the finer points of projecting myself as a professional model which was of immense value.

You are one of those few models in SL who dare to pose in swimwear. What are your thoughts on this statement?
Swimwear is just another piece of fashion clothing and as a model I believe that you need to be comfortable wearing any type of clothing, provided you have the figure and attitude to carry it off.

Other than modelling have you thought of exploring other fields of work?
Perhaps, if I am offered a good break in the film industry I will consider.

Any thought or plan of working overseas (in terms of modelling), and are you ready for it?
As my dream has been to become a top international model, I will definitely peruse modelling overseas.

What’s your biggest strength?
My biggest strength is being persistent, which has brought me thus far.

You are now a much seen fashion model in Sri Lanka, do you believe you were born to model, or did you have a turning point in your life?
I was born to model as it was always my dream to break into the modelling industry. And I remember as a child of 5 years taking part in a fancy dress parade as a little super model complete with a micro mini dress, sunglasses and high heels..... not forgetting the make-up.
