An Asian influence has been seen on the runways for the upcoming seasons with the introduction of the revamped Kimono, which is definitely going to be quite popular in Sri Lanka in the coming new year.
The runways have been flooded with silky, shiny fabrics with floral prints and embroidered dragons all tastefully tied to the kimonos or folded with origami pleats.
The kimono, a traditional Japanese garment worn by men, women and children usually in a T-shaped, broad sleeved, full-length robe with a hem that falls to the ankle has been modified for the new era which has been accessorised with sashes and obi belts making the trend trendier for the present fashionista.
While the classic kimono can be a bit of a challenge for the unfamiliar to put on, the modern kimono has been designed for ease of wear, and yet retains the traditional look.
The trend need not be having the entire look of a Kimono, since the trend also consists of just tops, jackets and lightweight cardigans with the Kimono-inspired style, which can be worn over a tank top or a dress.
If you desire to include exotic and ethnic features to your wardrobe, a kimono inspired blouse or sheer lightweight jacket will be ideal. One of the most impressive factors about this trend is that it blends traditional elements with the contemporary, while it suites perfectly for all body shapes.
In Japanese, Kimono means “thing to wear”, and which I would say is definitely the thing to wear this new year by all ladies.
