The Wide-Leg

This easy to wear and ultra-chic wide-leg pants made a frequent appearance on most spring/summer runways. However it must be noted that this retro wide legged pants are not for everyone, but not always for the six-foot-tall supermodels as well.

Because these pants are not suited for most figures, this trend would not be considered a dominant style which will conquer the street but when the trend is styled right there is no room for error.

There are three types of wide-leg pants and one of which is the wide legged trousers. These trousers are sophisticated yet relaxed and sharp with a well tailored appearance, which is even suitable as office wear since it gives out a very modern yet classy sophisticated look.

Wide legged jeans are another type of wide-leg pants which gives more of a casual look and is much like the 90′s take on bell bottoms. And the third type is the palazzo pants, which is the resort cousin of the wide-leg pants family.

Palazzo pants serve you best when you are on holiday since the fabrics are lighter and with plenty of drape and flow and of much colour compared to its other wide leg family members.

Combining these pants with heels is a must! Flats would not complete the look as good as heels do.

The exception is if you are carrying off a very masculine look with man-style flats but which of course is suited for those with a tall figure.

You can also convert this look to a 70´s style wide-leg trouser with platforms and a big floppy hat.

A slim-fitting top to balance out the volume on the bottom half of the pants is necessary.

A soft, billowing blouse can also work but is best worked with a waist-cinching belt to tighten from the waist.

It must be mentioned that the Skinny jeans/ pants have a long life left in them so it is not advisable to throw those trusty skinnies away, but this is a year in which flares are on-trend.

So wide-leg may not become your wardrobe staple just yet but a short lived change from the tight skinnies giving your legs some space to breathe.
