The biggest Sri Lankan designer line-up at HSBC Colombo Fashion Week only confirms the fact that this project has become the back bone of the local fashion design industry by unearthing, guiding and promoting Sri Lanka’s fashion design talent. This year 23 fashion designers will showcase their labels at the Colombo fashion week scheduled for 24, 25 and 26 Feb 2012.

 
The interesting mix of Sri Lankan designers will include both, established designers and emerging talent who will showcase their designs over three days at the Hilton, Colombo.
Established designers such as Yoland, Darshi, KT Brown and MiddleFinger will showcase their designs alongside Sonali Fernando, Ramona, Nadya and Upeksha who will be returning to the ramp this year. In addition local brands such as FH Studio ,Stringhopper, Arugam Bay,  Avirate, KUR, Conscience and Otara will also present their collections at this year’s show.

Newcomers Deneth,Lilian, Koco and Gehan have been selected by the HSBC CFW organizers after impressing industry experts with their work.
Winner of last year's Gen-Next award winner Dimuthu who will present his collection and is expected to exceed expectations.
 
“This year we are going for the quality by setting standards for all Sri Lankan fashion designers, it also becomes criteria for new designers to adhere to and deliver, after all we want to set very high standards for the Sri Lankan fashion design industry,” said Ajai Singh, President Colombo Fashion Week.
“The event continues to be platform that will not only showcase Sri Lankan talent but also be an opportunity to globalize Sri Lankan fashion. CFW will open up unmatched opportunities that will integrate Sri Lanka with the global fashion world,” Says Ajai Singh
 
Leading up to the event HSBC CFW 2012 will be launching of the ‘Bright Spark’ Fringe Fashion Show from this year. This follows the introduction of the ‘Gen-Next’Award that was introduced at last years Colombo Fashion Week.
 
This year’s Gen-Next Award will be sponsored by Pantene.
Over the years, HSBC Colombo Fashion Week has been working towards strengthening the business aspect; where young, local Sri Lankan designers can further engage in commerce to enhance their expertise as fashion designers.
 
In order to provide commercial opportunities for local fashion labels and designers, HSBC CFW has collaborated with 5 retailers this year, namely Trunk, Cantaloupe Boutique, Aakshii, Melache and Cotton Collection to create a designer/retailer program for fashion consumers of Sri Lanka.
 
To complement the local designers, a strong international designer line up in the likes of Bibi Russell, Rizwan Beyg, Samant Chauhan, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada and Manoviraj Khosla, will showcase their designs this year.
 
Making their debut at HSBC CFW this year are designers James Ferriera from India, Gaetanno Navara from Italy and Jason & Anshu from India.
 
HSBC CFW also works with the British Council as its knowledge partner. As with each year, the partnership continues to enrich CFW and this year it will bring William Richard Green from the ramp of London Fashion Week to showcase his exciting talents.
